Earth Day Freebie

April 22, 2014 in Freebie

So much inspiration on this little planet of ours! The Earth without art would indeed be eh. So, let's keep it beautiful, people. Turned a little watercoloring I did this morning into an iPhone wallpaper freebie... Happy Earth Day! (To download the background for your phone, please click on the appropriate device and save the image to your camera roll)

BSaz Creates | Mini Easter Photo Booth Egg

SOMEBUNNY LOVES PHOTOBOOTHS

April 18, 2014

Does this mean that I really spent my morning building a mini photobooth... For a string-wrapped egg.? Yep, Sure does.

Am I losin it? Probably. It's totally worth it.

I thought I was using the free shape of the week, but it turns out I clicked on the wrong photo prop set in my Silhouette library. The good news is, you can get these Bunny Photo Prop shapes (for human sized photo booths) discounted right now in the Silhoutte Online Store.

Hoppy Easter!

BSAZ CREATES | EGG THEMED BABY SHOWER INVITATION SET

In sticking with the usual egg theme during Easter week, this #TBT: Craft Edition is to a little different type of an egg themed babyshower I did last year. Designed and cut in Silhouette Studio, I utilized sticker paper to print the reversed side details got the invitation. Unfortunately, I am reallllllly good at working up until the last minute on some projects...which means that the rest of this party didn't get time to actually get photographed well. womp womp. Better luck (or less procrastination) next time!

The Past 48

April 16, 2014

Oy. The past 48 hours have been quite the whirlwind of semi-highs and super lows. The kind where you have 63928 things on your week's to-do list riiiight when Monday decides to kick your ass. I'm not talking your typical "I've got a case of the Mondays" but rather the sudden RIP MacBook Pro, type. Not my idea of starting the week off right. I feel like part of me died too.

RIP MACBOOK PRO (2007-2014)

RIP MACBOOK PRO (2007-2014)

I originally thought this post was going to be a lengthy sob story of me reliving the failures & triumphs that happened over the course of the past two days (because what the eff.) but the truth is... I don't have the energy to relive every detail again. So, we're gonna go with the shortened version. My sanity will thank me, and you won't have to play the tiny violin for me for too long. Let's be honest, who wants to relive the 2 1/2 hours spent on the phone with Adobe's help team anyway? Not. Me.

I know that I am being ridiculous, but as I'm sure any designer (or human living in the 21st century) would agree, my computer is my life-line. So, departing from it this quickly (and inevitably being forced into Apple induced debt) has me feeling a bit whackado. and broke. I knew it was an investment I would eventually have to make...but didn't think it would be this sudden. I know there are at least a few of ya that can empathize with me. That bad boy got me through design school and all of my first hired jobs. And hung on for the past 7 years. Trust me, I want to be excited to finally have a new computer, but can't seem to shake the shock of it all happening, completely out of my control. (Nahh. A control freak? Who...me? Couldn't be.) Baby steps, people. I just lost my partner in crime. I'll accept the change eventually, but right now I'm still a bit bitter. Throw Chicago's bi-polar weather in there and... I can't even.

From mood-matching gloomy weather on Monday, to waking up to snow (Yes, AGAIN) Tuesday morning, Chi-town was once again on the fritz. I despise the sight of my winter coat & snow mid spring and blame both for making an already crappy situation even more intolerable. Can we just get one nice week, please?! Some blooming flowers perhaps? Woof. Since I have no nice words for what Mother Nature is doing to my mental state, I'll take advice from a thumpy little bunny and stop while I'm ahead. Now, for the positive side of things...

DesignTeamGoodies-BSaz

Though admittedly I have had a hard time time coping with this weeks events...things did start looking up when I received my first box of Design Team goodies from Silhouette!! Tra la la to that! Can't wait to start playing!

So while I mourn the loss of my ol' pal, I'm gonna buck up, get over it, and start making magic with this new machine. Let's do this!

BSaz Creates | Simple DIY String Wrapped Easter Egg Tutorial

DIY | SIMPLE STRING WRAPPED EASTER EGGS

April 10, 2014 in DIY

For the past few years, our Easter egg dying has been a complete mess. I blame it on the off-balance of our apartment...because without fail, our eggs have managed to humpty-dumpty themselves right off the table and on to the floor. More than once. Unfortunately, much like the original tale, no amount of the King's horses (or men) could save those disasters. Sooo, I got smart this year and opted for craft-worthy paper mâché eggs instead. Now we're talkin! I LOVE how these turned out!

BSaz Creates | Simple DIY String Wrapped Easter Egg Supplies

Though this project does tend to leave you with glue covered fingers, the over-all process is pretty darn simple. The first step is to adhere the end of the string to the tip of the egg. This will be the point that you will essentially be starting the wrap spiral, so let it dry before trying to start wrapping or it will move. Getting it as centered at the tip as possible is what will keep it consistent from top to bottom. I used a variety of strings here (jute/hemp, bakers twine, and yarn), so play around! I got really lucky with the color spotted yarn that I snagged from Tuesday Morning for $2- win.

After gluing the starting point, I then put clear tacky glue (which I found to work the best) a little ways down the egg. Then wrap until you hit where there is no more glue, and repeat! Just go slow, and make sure whatever glue you're using dries clear, or you will be mighty disappointed. Like I said, my hands were continually covered in glue, which helped tame all the fly-aways on the string itself, but does become an issue if the glue from your hands starts sticking to your egg. I had to clean my hands off quite a few times mid-process. But that's the joy of crafting, isn't it?

Annnd… that's it! Just keep wrapping & gluing until you reach the bottom of the egg- then snip snip, you're all done! Once you de-glue, give yourself a big pat on the back. At least glue is easier to get off your hands than egg dye, right? Hoppy Crafting!

Hippity Hoppity Easter's On it's Way

April 08, 2014

An afternoon of Easter crafting, and now I'm in the mood to decorate eggs! That will happen at some point this week…but for now, here's this darling little diddy. When I came across the vintage rabbit silhouettes in the Silhouette online store, I was in love and had to find a use for them! I mean, common! A top-hat wearing rabbit…Adorable!

BSAZ CREATES | EASTER BUNNY BUNTING

This little bunny bunting would be a perfect addition to the kid's table for Easter Brunch, or for all around Easter decor. I used the same strips of fabric on the banner as I did for little bunny foo-foo's tail.  I really like the mix of textiles & paper texture - I think I may have sparked a serious love for adding fabric to projects. We shall see.

BSaz Creates - Bedroom Inspiration Board - Navy & Gold Spring Pallet

I'm Dreaming of a New Bedroom

April 06, 2014

Late night pinning and dreams of spring cleaning (if spring ever decides to grace Chicago) have lead me to virtually "re-doing" our bedroom. We all have that oneee room in our house that we had good intentions for...but never got around to. I admit that sadly the bedroom has been the most design-neglected room in our place. Let's be honest, I spend the majority of my life in the craft room, anyhow. So while I sit here pinning instead of playing, maybe this moodboard will spark some creativity in someone else.

I have SUCH A crush on combing navy & gold. There's just something more earthy to me about it than the typical black & gold tie. Then add the pops of color. Looooove it. I stumbled upon this iPad Wallpaper from Breanna Rose (which I printed to frame), and already own that duvet cover from West Elm…so we're half way there, right? HA! Nowww… if only it would warm up so I can start our dresser makeover. Have I mentioned my deep love for power tools? Ohhh, you. just. wait.
